"1973 – מפת סימון הזיכרון" היא תערוכה מקיפה, הראשונה מסוגה, המציעה מבט  רב-דורי וביקורתי על מלחמת יום הכיפורים, במלאות לה 50 שנה. הזיכרון הקולקטיבי של 1973 הולך ומסתמן כהפרעה פוסט-טראומתית מתמשכת במרחב הציבורי. משבר ה"מחדל" נחשב לפצע שטרם הגליד בשיח הישראלי, ונדמה כי נוכחותו רלוונטית היום יותר מאי פעם. התערוכה מדגימה את הפוטנציאל העצום שעדיין טמון בהדהודה של מלחמת יום הכיפורים בזירה התרבותית-אמנותית.

במרחבי הגלריות במרכז ההנצחה, מוסד תרבותי-חינוכי שהוקם בעקבות המלחמה ההיא, 23 אמנים ואמניות מגיבים למלחמה ולהשלכותיה רבות השנים. התערוכה משלבת עבודות שנוצרו בשנים שלאחר המלחמה והוצגו בעבר עם עבודות חדשות, שטרם הוצגו,  הכולל רישום, ציור, גילוף, הדפס, פיסול, מיצב, צילום ווידיאו-ארט.

סערת רגשות ומבע תיעודי, הזרה והתבוננות מרחוק, ואף מבט אוניברסלי על מלחמות ועל הרג – את כולם אפשר למצוא כאן. העושר היצירתי מעיד על כוחה של האמנות לצקת משמעות בטראומה על אף הקושי למצוא שפה שתדייק אותה. נופי המלחמה – הן הפנימיים, הפורצים ממחבוא הנפש, והן המוכרים והגלויים לעין – כולם מהדהדים משהו מן הכאב הנורא וממשבר האמון והזהות שנפער בחברה הישראלית ב-1973 ושינה את פניה לעד.

את העבודות בתערוכה חילקנו לשלוש תערוכות-משנה, המוצגות בשלוש הגלריות של מרכז ההנצחה: "גלי-הדף", "נופים מצולקים" ו"הזמנה לבכי", כל אחת מהן מסמנת נתיב אחר במפת סימון הזיכרון, אשר בין שביליה אתם.ן מוזמנים.ות להלך.

"1973 – Memory Marking Map" is a comprehensive exhibition, the first of its kind, offering a multi-generational and critical view of the Yom Kippur War, on its 50th anniversary. The collective memory of 1973 is emerging as a persistent post-traumatic disorder in the public sphere. The “failure” crisis is considered a wound that has not yet healed in the Israeli discourse, with its presence being more relevant today than ever. The exhibition demonstrates the enormous potential that still lies in the reverberation of the Yom Kippur War, affecting the Israeli cultural-artistic scene.

In the various spaces of the Memorial Center, a cultural-educational institution established in the wake of that war, 23 artists respond to the war and its years long consequences. The exhibition combines works created in the years following the war, previously exhibited, with new works, not yet exhibited, employing a range of materials and techniques: drawing, painting, carving, printmaking, sculpture, installation, photography and video art.

Bursts of emotions alongside documentary expressions, estrangement and observation from afar, and even a universal view on wars and killing – all can be found here. The highly creative richness testifies to the power of art to pour meaning into trauma despite the difficulty of finding a language that would precisely convey it. The scenes of war – both the internal ones, breaking out from hidden places in the soul, and the familiar and visible ones – all echo something of the terrible grief and the crisis of trust and identity that befell Israeli society in 1973, changing it forever.

The works were divided into three sub-exhibitions, displayed in the three galleries of the Memorial Center: "Shock Waves", "Scarred Landscapes" and "Invitation to Cry", each featuring a different trail on the memory marking map, through which you are kindly invited to roam.
